Severe Weather Alert
National Weather Service Alert for Sussex County
Delaware Emergency Management Agency Update:
This morning’s latest from the National Weather Service.
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 10am this morning to 6am Wednesday.
A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect until 11am Wednesday.
Snow accumulations in New Castle County are forecast to be 8 to 12 inches. 6 to 10 inches of snow are forecast for Kent and Sussex Counties.
Snow will spread over the area toward mid-to-late morning, then continue through this evening.
Travel will become hazardous due to snow covered roads and periods of very low visibility. Areas of blowing and drifting snow will develop especially this evening and tonight. The afternoon and evening rush hour will be significantly impacted.
Winds from the northeast 15-25 MPH with gusts up to 35-40 MPH, becoming north and northwest overnight.
Temperatures will be mainly in the teens to 20s today, then dropping to the single digits tonight.
Wind chill to be as low as 10 below zero. These dangerous values can quickly cause frostbite to exposed skins and lead to hypothermia.
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are expected. Strong winds are possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
Areas of blowing and drifting snow will greatly reduce visibility, especially in open areas later Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. This will result in snow blowing back onto previously plowed roadways. Use extra caution if driving.
A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in
frostbite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves.

Resolution 2013.12.09 R02 Water Rates
The Town Council meeting on December 9th, resolution #2013.12.09 R02 A Resolution adopting the rates to be charged for the supply of water, was passed unanimously. Please click on the link to view the resolution. 2013.12.09R02 Water Rates.
The new water rates are $21.50 which include up to 2000 gallons and $6.15 per thousand gallons after. The rates are effective for the January usage which will be billed in February. It is important to note that the town’s water rates are based on an equivalent dwelling unit (EDU). For those apartments and duplexes that only have one water meter you will be charged the per EDU rate for every unit in your complex/duplex. You will receive the minimum gallon allowance per EDU also. Example: If you have 2 units on one meter your base charge will be $21.50 x 2 = $43.00, if you have 6,000 gallons used, the first 4,000 gallons are the allowance (2,000 x 2 = 4,000), so you will be charged for 2,000 gallons at $6.15 x 2 = $12.30, your bill will be $43.00 + $12.30 = $55.30. Please contact Vikki Prettyman, Town Administrator, for any questions regarding the charges. Her email is vikkiprettyman@bladesde.com or town hall at 302-629-7366.
