2012 Arbor Day Celebration

The Governor presented awards to the annual Arbor Day Poster Contest Winners, the communities which have received Tree City USA status from the National Arbor Day Foundation, and Blades Elementary School as Delaware’s first TREEriffic School. Presentation was also made to Delaware State University for being Delaware’s first Tree Campus USA. Cemetery Care Bids Opened and Awarded

The winning bid has been awarded to Affordable Lawn Care, 8972 Bacons Road, Delmar, Delaware 19940; Randall Chapman, Owner. The winning bid is for $215 per cut, with the option of going to $225 per cut if fuel prices rise over $4.50 per gallon.

Residents are encouraged to recycle scrap tires from passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks, with participation helping to reduce environmental and health hazards associated with scrap tires in the state’s communities. Seven previous DNREC – sponsored drop off events have collected more than 14,080 scrap tires (weighing nearly 176 tons). Residents are invited to bring up to 10 passenger or light-duty truck tires per household for disposal and recycling. Larger tires or tires on rims will not be accepted. Back-Up Well Referendum Passes
Date Posted: Monday, March 19th, 2012March 19th, 2012 Special Election Results Referendum Election for proposed borrowing up to $375,000.00 made available by the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services through its Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. The proposed project consists of the installation of a third back-up well and ancillaries along with a new raw waterline. The loan will be amortized over thirty (30) years at an interest rate of 1%, with accrued interest payable during construction of the proposed project (42.8% of the loan (up to an amount equal to $160,500) will be forgiven and not have to be repaid by the Town). Votes FOR: 56 Votes AGAINST: 5 The referendum has been passed by the property owners in the Town of Blades.
