2015 Annual Election Notice: Candidate Notice

TOWN OF BLADES ANNUAL ELECTION

The Town of Blades will hold their Annual Municipal Election for the Mayoral Seat on Monday, April 6th, 2015 at Hardin Hall from 2pm to 6pm.

The one (1) candidate receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected for a two year term. The candidates running for Blades Town Mayor are as follows:

Robert Atkinson
John Reiss
David Ruff

There will not be an election for the two (2) council seats. Lee Benningfield and Incumbent Russell Joseph were the only two that completed a certificate of intention and will fill the councilman positions.

At the Annual Municipal election, every person, male or female, who shall have attained the age of eighteen (18) years on the date of the Annual Municipal Election and who shall have been a citizen of the United States for a period of one year and a citizen of the Town of Blades for a period of six (6) months preceding the date of the Annual Municipal Election shall have one (1) vote, provided he or she has registered on the “Books of Registered Voters” of the Town of Blades by March 25th, 2015. A registered voter that is unable to come to the election polls on the day of the election must complete an affidavit prior to receiving an absentee ballot. The completed affidavit must be received in Town Hall by noon on Thursday, April 2nd, 2015. Absentee ballots will be made available for mailing to registered voters, who have completed an affidavit, starting March 6th, 2015 through March 27th, 2015. If the registered voter needs the ballot after March 27th, 2015 they must come to Town Hall and pick up the ballot. All absentee ballots must be received by the Election Board by the close of the election polls at 6:00pm on Monday, April 6th, 2015.

TOWN OF BLADES ELECTION

Candidates wishing to run for the Mayor and (2) council seats that are up for election in Blades must file a letter of intent with the office of the Town Administrator. Forms may be obtained at the Town Hall or on www.blades.delaware.gov. Candidates must file notice by the close of business at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6th, 2015. Candidates filing must have attained the age of twenty five (25) years old; must have been a resident of Blades for six months preceding this election, hold title to real estate, and must be a citizen of the United States of America. All citizens wishing to vote in the April 6th, 2015 election must register at the Blades Town Hall by the close of business at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25th, 2015. All citizens who shall have attained the age of eighteen (18) years on the date of the Annual Election and be a citizen of the United States of America for a period of one (1) year and a citizen of the Town of Blades for a period of six (6) months preceding the date of the Annual Municipal Election shall be eligible to register and hold one (1) vote. All citizens who have not voted in the last two (2) contested elections held by the Town must re-register to vote by the above stated date. A registered voter that is unable to come to the election polls on the day of the election must complete an affidavit prior to receiving an absentee ballot. Town Hall Closed Christmas Day 12/25 and Friday 12/26

The Town Hall will be closed on Thursday, December 25th and Friday, December 26th, 2014 for the Christmas Holiday.  The Mayor, Council and Staff would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

November 14th, 2014: Friday evening at Blades United Methodist Church, 2015 Little Miss, Junior Miss, and Miss Blades were crowned.  We are very proud of all the young ladies that participated. We look forward to our Miss Blades winners representing Blades in various Christmas pageants and other anniversary activities planned leading up to our 100th Anniversary celebration the weekend of May 16th.  Thank you to all our sponsors and businesses that donated to the goodie bags.  Thank you to our judges and volunteers for your time!

2015 Little Miss-Junior Miss-Miss Blades Pageant

Age Groups:

Little Miss: 4yrs to 7yrs

Junior Miss: 8yrs to 12yrs

Miss: 13yrs to 17yrs (18 if still in High School)

Must live in the Blades Fire District (Proof with Driver’s License of Parent/Guardian and a utility bill)

Competition: Pretty Party Dress/Evening Gown, Talent, and Question & Answer Session

Registration Fee: $15

Each registered contestant receives 2 tickets to the pageant.

Registration ends on October 24th, 2014 (on October 24th we extended the registration to October 31st, 2014)

Tickets sold at the door:

$5 for Adults, Free for kids 12yrs and under

Town Hall Closed November 27th & 28th for the Thanksgiving Holiday

Town Hall will be closed on Thursday,November 27th and Friday, November 28th for the Thanksgiving Holiday so our employees may spend time with their families.  We wish everyone a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving!

Cemetery Clean Up 2014

Notice

Please remove all Christmas and other Holiday flowers and decorations from the grave-sites and stones at the Town Cemetery on Market Street by March 7th, 2014 or the Town will remove and dispose of them.  The Town will not be liable for any holding frames, damaged, or disposed of.

Water Bills for January's Usage will be late due to inclement weather

The water bills for January’s usage will go out a few days late due to snow still being on the ground on Friday. The staff will make every effort to get the bills out by Thursday February 6th, 2014. If you have any questions please contact town hall at 302-629-7366.
