Town of Blades Kids Christmas Bazaar
The Town of Blades Kids Christmas Bazaar will be held on Sunday December 8th, 2013 from 1pm to 3pm. The first 100 kids ages 3 to 10 will be welcomed to make crafts, play games, get a photo and visit with Santa, receive free age appropriate gifts, and a snack bag.  Arrive early, the line fills up quick.

The town accepts donations and recognizes all sponsors.  Donations are tax deductible. No matter the amount, it all adds up to one special afternoon for some kids and their parents who could use a little holiday cheer.  Please contact the Town Administrator, Vikki Prettyman at 302-629-7366 for further information regarding donations and sponsorship. National Prescription Drug “Take-Back” Day Saturday October 26th, 2013

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and local law enforcement agencies are working together to sponsor National Prescription Drug “take-back” day tomorrow Saturday, October 26th, 2013.

Between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm designated police agencies will accept any outdated or unused medications for proper disposal.

Flushing or tossing away the medication in the trash is not recommended since many drugs can persist an cause environment damage. They can also impair the proper operation of septic systems.

Experts say periodically disposing of unneeded prescriptions reduces the chances of abuse of confusing medications.  According to DEA officials, over half of teens abusing medicines get them from a family member or friend, often without their knowledge.

There is no cost for the service and the collections are anonymous.

Changes to Ordinance 412 and Ordinance 416

The penalties for violating Ordinances 412 and 416 have increased.  The amendments were read at three council meetings.  First reading on July 8th, 2013, second reading on August 12th, 2013, and final reading on September 9th, 2013.  The adobe pdf files are below.  Any questions please contact the Town Administrator at town hall.

Annexation Committee Appointed

At the May 13th, 2013 Council Meeting the Mayor appointed the annexation committee to review possible annexation.  The town has received a petition from property owners wishing to be annexed into town limits.

In memoriam

Governor Markell today ordered both the U.S. and State flags to be flown at half-staff in memory of U.S. Army Warrant Officer Sean W. Mullen, a native of Dover. Warrant Officer Mullen died Sunday in Afghanistan of injuries sustained from an improvised explosive device. Warrant Officer Mullen served his country valiantly for almost two decades, completing tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Flags will remain at half-staff until the close of business on Friday, June 7.
