TOWN OF BLADES ANNUAL ELECTION 

2016 Annual Election Notice

The Town of Blades will hold their Annual Municipal Election for three (3) Council seats on Monday, April 4th, 2016 at Hardin Hall from 2pm to 6pm.

The three (3) candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected for a two year term. The candidates running for Council are as follows:

BJ Hardin (Incumbent)

John Reiss (Incumbent)

David Ruff (Incumbent)

Michael Smith

At the Annual Municipal election, every person, male or female, who shall have attained the age of eighteen (18) years on the date of the Annual Municipal Election and who shall have been a citizen of the United States for a period of one year and a citizen of the Town of Blades for a period of six (6) months preceding the date of the Annual Municipal Election shall have one (1) vote, provided he or she has registered on the “Books of Registered Voters” of the Town of Blades by March 23rd, 2016. A registered voter that is unable to come to the election polls on the day of the election must complete an affidavit prior to receiving an absentee ballot.  The completed affidavit must be received in Town Hall by noon on Thursday, March 31st, 2016.  Absentee ballots will be made available for mailing to registered voters, who have completed an affidavit, starting March 7th, 2016 through March 28th, 2016.  If the registered voter needs the ballot after March 28th, 2016 they must come to Town Hall and pick up the ballot.  All absentee ballots must be received by the Election Board by the close of the election polls at 6:00pm on Monday, April 4th, 2016.

Grave Opening and Cremation Fee Increase Effective 2016

On December 14th, 2015, council approved an increase in the Grave Opening and Cremation Fees for the Blades Cemetery.  Please see the update By-Laws below.

Reduced Planning & Zoning Fees effective 12/15/2015

At the council meeting on December 14th, 2015 the council approved R10 430A 2015.12.14 All related planning ans zoning fees and building permit fees impact fees for new construction and water installation. For 12 months, effective 12/15/2015, the fees for new construction is reduced.  Please see the fee schedule below.

Seaford Young Marines Red Ribbon Week Proclamation October 23rd to October 31st, 2015
WHEREAS, communities across American have been plagued by the numerous problems associated with illicit drug use and those that traffic in them; and
WHEREAS, there is hope in winning the war on drugs, and that hope lies in education and drug demand reduction, coupled with the hard work and determination of organizations such as the Young Marines of the Marine Corps League to foster a healthy, drug free lifestyle; and
WHEREAS, governments and community leaders know that citizen support is one of the most effective tools in the effort to reduce the use of illicit drugs in our communities; and
WHEREAS, the red ribbon has been chosen as a symbol commemorating the work of Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, a Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent who was murdered in the line of duty, and represents the belief that one person can make a difference; and
WHEREAS, the Red Ribbon Campaign was established by Congress in 1988 to encourage a drug-free lifestyle and involvement in drug prevention and reduction efforts; and
WHEREAS, October 23rd through October 31st, 2015, has been designated National Red Ribbon Week, which encourages Americans to wear a red ribbon to show their support for a drug-free environment;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bob Atkinson, Mayor of the Town of Blades, do hereby proclaim October 23rd through October 31st, 2015 as Red Ribbon Week in the Town of Blades, Delaware, and urge all citizens to join me in the special observance.

The result for the Mayor of the Town of Blades is as follows:

Town of Blades will swear in Mayor-elect Atkinson and Councilmen-elect Russell T Joseph and Lee Benningfield on Monday, April 13th, 2015 at the town’s council meeting.

TOWN OF BLADES ANNUAL ELECTION

The Town of Blades will hold their Annual Municipal Election for the Mayoral Seat on Monday, April 6th, 2015 at Hardin Hall from 2pm to 6pm.

The one (1) candidate receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected for a two year term. The candidates running for Blades Town Mayor are as follows:

Robert Atkinson
John Reiss
David Ruff

There will not be an election for the two (2) council seats. Lee Benningfield and Incumbent Russell Joseph were the only two that completed a certificate of intention and will fill the councilman positions.
